Pipe Accessories

Pipe Accessories — Metal Filters and Pipe Cleaners

At Edabea, you'll find a selection of pipe accessories with 4 verified references: three types of metal filters in different geometries and diameters, and a pipe cleaner. The filters are also compatible with bongs — they are the same product available in the bong accessories section. To explore the available pipe models, you can return to the general pipe category.

Metal Filters — Types, Diameters, and Compatibility

Metal filters are placed inside the bowl to retain material residues and prevent them from passing into the channel or reaching the mouth. There are three geometries available, each with different diameters and applications:

Type Geometry Available Diameters Material Units per Pack
Flat Filters Flat Circular Mesh 12.5 mm / 16.5 mm / 20 mm Steel (all diameters) or brass (only 20 mm) 5 units
Concave Filters Surface Curved Inward 12.7 mm / 15 mm / 20 mm Steel 5 units
Conical Filters Frustum Shape 14.5 mm Steel 4 units

To choose the correct diameter, measure the inside of your pipe or bong bowl. A filter that is too small falls into the piece, while one that is too large does not sit properly and fails to function. The 14.5 mm conical filters are designed for bowls with a standard joint of 14.5 mm, common in medium-sized glass bongs.

The difference between geometries is functional: flat filters are the standard format for most bowls; concave ones fit better in bowls with curved inner bases; conical filters fit more precisely in bowls with 14.5 mm joints. All three types work in standard flat bowls, but concave or conical geometries improve the fit in non-flat bowls.

Pipe Cleaner

The 15 cm Pipe Cleaner is designed to clean the interior channel of pipes and reach tight areas where resin residues accumulate with continued use. Its material does not scratch glass surfaces, making it compatible with glass pipes in addition to metal, wood, and acrylic.

It is especially useful for maintaining straight pipes with narrow channels. For pipes with curved or very compact channels, it may be necessary to slightly bend the cleaner to reach all areas. For bongs with a larger diameter tube, the 52 cm bong cleaning brush with a wool head available in bong accessories is more suitable.

Compatibility with Different Pipe Materials

The metal filters are compatible with all pipe materials available in the catalog: glass, metal, wood, acrylic, and stone. The pipe cleaner is compatible with glass, metal, wood, and acrylic — it may not fit in stone pipes with very narrow channels depending on the inner diameter.

For cleaning the channel, the method varies according to the material: in glass and metal pipes, isopropyl alcohol can be used along with the cleaner; in wood and acrylic pipes, only the dry cleaner or water should be used, without solvents that could damage the material.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pipe Accessories

How do I know what filter diameter I need?

The diameter of the filter should match the inner diameter of the bowl. The most accurate way to check it is to measure the inside with calipers or a ruler. The most common diameters in pipe bowls are 12.5 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm. The 14.5 mm conical filters are specifically designed for bowls with a standard joint of 14.5 mm, common in medium-sized glass bongs. If the filter is too small, it falls inside; if it’s too large, it won’t sit properly.

What is the difference between flat, concave, and conical filters?

Flat filters are the standard format — a flat circular metal mesh that is placed in the bottom of the bowl. Concave filters have the surface curved inward, making them better suited for bowls with curved inner bases and improving seating in those geometries. Conical filters have a frustum shape and fit more precisely in bowls with a 14.5 mm joint. In a standard flat bowl, all three types work; geometry makes a difference in bowls with non-flat bases.

Can pipe filters also be used for bongs?

Yes — they are exactly the same product. Flat, concave, and conical filters are available in both the pipe accessories section and the bong accessories section. Compatibility depends on the diameter of each piece’s bowl, not the type of accessory.

Does the pipe cleaner scratch glass?

No — the 15 cm pipe cleaner is made from a material that does not scratch glass surfaces, making it safe to use on glass pipes. It is also compatible with metal, wood, and acrylic. For very narrow or curved channels, it may be necessary to slightly bend it to reach all areas.

How often should I change the pipe filters?

It depends on the frequency of use. Metal filters become saturated with resin over time and lose effectiveness when the mesh becomes obstructed. One way to prolong their lifespan is to clean them with isopropyl alcohol (for filters used with glass or metal pipes) before replacing them. When the filter does not allow adequate airflow or becomes deformed, it is time to replace it. The packs of 5 (or 4 in the case of conical ones) allow you to have spares on hand without needing to order frequently.
