It needs relatively high humidity, partial shade and a minimum temperature of 18ºC.
The cultivation of Salvia Divinorum outdoors is only possible in tropical climates, high humidity and well-drained rich soil, it does not tolerate frost, drought or too low temperatures. It can be kept outdoors during the summer months but it is advisable to bring it inside at night.
It grows well in pots, with a rich and well-drained substrate, it needs a lot of water but not waterlogged, that drains well. It likes light but not direct sun. The roots need a lot of space to grow, it is necessary to change pots as it grows.
The biggest problems of growing Salvia are pests (insects, slugs, fungi...) and rot (improper drainage...).
When you receive your Salvia plant, during the first weeks, the plant should be inside a plastic bag (as a greenhouse) to keep the humidity high, make holes in the bag so that the plant gets used to a lower humidity until you can remove the bag.
