With this aquaponics starter system you will be able to enjoy the experience of having your own ecosystem at home, in a sustainable and natural way.

In this symbiotic environment, the wastes generated by the fish are used as nutrients for the plants, while the plants filter and clean the water by eliminating pollutants.

    COMPONENTS OF AQUAPONICS

HOW TO USE YOUR AQUAPONICS SYSTEM

Plants are grown in the same way as in conventional hydroponic systems, with their roots immersed in the nutrient-filled water. This allows them to filter out ammonia that is toxic to aquatic animals and their metabolites. After the water has passed through the hydroponic subsystem, it is cleaned and oxygenated, and can return to the aquaculture vessels, forming a continuous cycle.

The three main inputs to the system are: water, feed for the fish, and electricity to pump the water between the aquaculture and hydroponics subsystems.

    How to place the plants

This system accepts the use of seeds or seedlings.
If seeds are used, they can be scattered directly on the surface of the growing medium. Small seedlings can also be placed directly on the growing bed, for which it is recommended to use the pots provided.
It is important to wash the roots with plenty of water to prevent soil residues from clouding the water. To properly settle the roots of the plants in the pots, you can use the small polyurethane foam sponges included in the aquaponic system. To do this, insert them in the pot, so that they serve as a support for the roots of the plants. You can also make small cuts in the sponges to introduce the roots of the plants inside so that they are more firmly held.

    How to introduce the fish

The system can hold up to 2 small aquarium fish.
It is advisable to have the aquaponic system activated with the plants at least 5 days before introducing the fish.

When tap water is used, it is recommended to follow the following steps to introduce the fish:

    1. Use an anti-chlorine product. When measuring the amount of product needed, keep in mind that the aquarium can hold about 15 liters of water. You can also put the water in an open container so that the chlorine evaporates in the course of a couple of days.
    2. Introduce the fish gradually. Place the bag with the fish in the tank with water for 15 minutes. Pour a glass of water from the tank into the fish bag and wait another 5 minutes. Release the fish and remove the bag.
