Almost all ancient cultures have used this sacred wood. It is an important part of ayahuasca sessions in the Peruvian jungle.

You have to light a stick with a match or candle (the best thing to do). After a few seconds the toothpick is shaken to extinguish the flame and this is when aromatic-spiritual white smoke is produced.
