Mushroom culture kit psilocybe cubensis Natalensis 100x100 mycelium.

The psilocybe Natalensis also called Natal Super Strench comes from South Africa. It was first identified in the mid-1990s. The original specimen was thought to be a newly discovered variety of Psilocybe Cubensis, however, after genetic sequencing, it was found to have its own characteristics. "Natal Super Strength is known for its extremely rhizomorphic growth and rapid colonization times. Natal Super Strength produces long, dense stems that turn deep blue when touched and small to medium sized caps that vary in color from creamy white to light brown.

Do not submerge in water before fruiting.

Psilocybe Natalensis: A Distinct Species with Unique Characteristics
Originally discovered in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Psilocybe Natalensis—also known as “Natal Super Strength”—has gained attention among mushroom enthusiasts due to its distinctive growth behavior and vigor.

Taxonomic Description:
Formally described in 1995 by Jochen Gartz, Michael Smith, Derek Reid, and Albert Eicker, Psilocybe Natalensis is considered a close sister species to Psilocybe Cubensis.
Belonging to the Hymenogastraceae family, it features a characteristic alkaloid profile including psilocybin, psilocin, and baeocystin.

Cultivation Advantages:
Psilocybe Natalensis is known for showing greater resistance to contamination compared to many common strains, making it an attractive option for beginner and experienced growers alike.
It adapts well to cultivation techniques commonly used with other mushroom grow kits, simplifying the fruiting process.
The 100% colonized mycelium format allows growers to start immediately without complex preparation steps.

You can also explore alternative genetics within our hybrid strains section if you are looking for different growth profiles.

User Experience Reports:
Users often describe Natalensis as qualitatively distinct from other species within the genus.
Reports frequently mention smoother effects, enhanced mental clarity, and reduced body load, contributing to a more balanced overall experience.

Historical Context and Discovery:
The discovery of Psilocybe Natalensis in 1995 sparked interest within the mycological community. Archaeological research suggests that psychoactive fungi may have been used in various cultures historically, adding cultural context to its study.

Chemical Composition and Ongoing Research:
Beyond its alkaloid content, preliminary studies have identified antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds in several Psilocybe species. Scientific research in this field continues to evolve.

Is P. Natalensis the New P. Cubensis?
While some growers consider Psilocybe Natalensis a promising alternative to widely cultivated species, each strain maintains unique biological characteristics.
Ongoing research and direct cultivation observation remain essential to fully understand its properties.
