Psilocybe azurescens is the most potent of all Psilocybe fungi. Psilocybe azurescens requires cold temperatures to fruit, so this strain is excellent for outdoor cultivation. It grows very well in the climate of northern European regions. The preferred substrate for this mushroom is wood chips.
During the winter, the culture was initiated by inoculating cover on sterilized rye. Once the rye is fully colonized it is used as spawn to inoculate a larger amount of sterilized wood shavings. In the spring, the colonized wood shavings are used to inoculate more non-sterile wood shavings outdoors. Fruits can be expected in the fall.
Temperature during colonization: 18 - 22 ° C
Temperature during fruiting: 10 - 15 ° C (outdoor)
